Guided Service

I offer a guide service by appointment at McKean’s shooting preserve in southeastern Ohio.
Some of Ohio’s finest upland hunting (Pheasant,Chukar,and Quail) on cut corn fields and CRP.

This hunt will be as close to a wild bird hunt as one could possibly get. The birds DON’T get
put to sleep or planted. Although our birds are pen raised, we do a wild release when they are
released in the field.Please check out the guide photos in the photo gallery, references can

Breeding Program

Here at Buckeye Llewellins, we strive to produce first class hunting dogs and companions. We only breed dogs that have all natural ability and have proven themselves afield.

There is a lot more to it than just putting two dogs together. I work with all of my dogs on a daily basis. While I’m enjoying every second of it, I’m also evaluating them for my breeding program. All of my dogs go through an extensive DNA health test through

Embark and Cornell University for 176 different health conditions,(COI)coefficient of inbreeding,

Breeding Rights

No breeding rights will be offered at the time of purchase. Rights may be given at a later time. In my opinion, there are too many people breeding for the wrong reasons. I’m just trying to do my part to preserve the breed.

Breeding rights may be given after the pup is fully DNA tested and certified as a healthy dog, and a fully finished Bird Dog Testing will be done at the buyer’s expense. Once breeding rights have been approved, I will be willing to assist you in finding a suitable mate for your dog. It is with the utmost importance to start utilizing current, available testing. If we do not start utilizing testing, the breed that we love will meet its demise sooner rather than later.

Puppy Selection

We ask that you fill out a puppy request form. The form may be viewed at the bottom of this page. Once we receive the form, we will contact you within 3 days.

We require a nonrefundable $150 deposit. Deposits may be transferred to a different litter for up to 3 years. Our puppies may leave no earlier than eight weeks of age.

Puppies will have been wormed four times and the first round of shots given
at the time of departure. We encourage you to pick your pup up in person, but if that’s not an option, you may have your pup delivered via air lines at an additional cost. Please call us for a quote.
